The name "TQ" is an homage to "Marching Song" (Vietnamese: Tiến Quân Ca), also known as the "Army March" and the "Song of Advancing Soldiers". This song was adopted as the national anthem of the new Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 1976, following the reunification of North Vietnam and South Vietnam.

 

The Mekong River (Vietnam's largest waterway) is called "Cửu Long", which is Sino-Vietnamese for Nine Dragons, after the number of its mouths. This product hails from Saigon, so it made sense to use a dragon motif here to create a framing device for the main logotype.
